How to Go to Business School for Free

May 12, 2009

Getting a free ride at business school takes a bit of work and planning. Here are some tips to give it your best shot Many business school applicants figure their essay writing is done when they learn they’ve gotten into one of the top business schools. Devin Griffin took the opposite tack when he received his Wharton acceptance letter, sitting down at his computer and writing yet another essay for the admissions committee. His thoughts on leadership would, he hoped, give him a shot at acquiring what he called Wharton’s crown jewel of financial aid, the Howard E. Mitchell Scholarship, a two-year, full-tuition scholarship covering Wharton’s $80,000 per year tuition and fees.

Writing Your First Resume

May 8, 2009

If you are worried about writing a resume, or struggling with the task, you’re not alone! But creating your first resume doesn’t have to be an intimidating task if you understand the goal of your résumé – to generate interest and interviews. It doesn’t have to get you a job and it doesn’t need to cover your life history. It simply has to pique the interest of the reader and answer the only question he cares about: will this candidate add value to my company?

Spam Not!

April 15, 2009

This is the cardinal rule of Netiquette. Mass, unsolicited e-mail is not acceptable, anywhere, for any reason. There are hundreds of hustlers out there trying to sell you databases and software that you can use to spam, but don’t believe their promises. Spamming will make enemies for you, not friends. It can also get you barred from large ISPs, crippling your traffic.

Don’t shell out big for submission services.

April 15, 2009

Submit your site to 500 search engines for $19.95! Bad deal. There aren’t 500, or even 100, search engines worth submitting to. The 19.95ers simply run your URL through an auto-submitter (like Selfpromotion.com or submitit.com), which you can do yourself for free. If you want a professional to submit your site, plan on spending a few hundred bucks at most, which should buy you a careful and thorough job. I myself currently offer a basic submission service for $350, and I admit that I’m a little pricey. Insist on receiving documentation of everything that’s been done, including all e-mail autoresponses from the search engines. publish your business listings on http://www.attest.us

Tips for Developing Policies for Your Business

April 14, 2009
  1. Think ahead. Establish policies before you need them. Doing so helps avert crises and awkward situations, and helps solve problems before they arise.
  2. Determine what policies you need. Some you’ll want early in your business include a mission statement, as well as compensation, performance evaluation and employee policies.
  3. Get input from key employees, as well as from members of your advisory board, your board of directors, and/or your professional advisors and consultants.
  4. Communicate policies to everyone in your business.
  5. Review policies on a regular basis—once a year, for example—and revise them as necessary.

5 Tips on Establishing a Presence in Your Community

April 14, 2009

1. Create an advisory board representative of your customers (even if they’re kids) and publicize it. Listen to the board’s ideas.

2. Publish a newsletter about your business for customers and potential customers. Send it via regular mail or email and post it on your Web page.

3. Make your values clear. One couple promotes their commitment to family—sometimes closing their store early to attend soccer games when their children or employees’ children are competing.

4. Make donations that represent your business. If you have a garden supply business, for example, contribute seeds and simple tools for a community garden.

5. Serve as a volunteer in your community and encourage your employees to follow suit. Marketing by getting involved.

Become A Copywriter

April 13, 2009

A good copywriter is invaluable – you will both check and write great copy for businesses. It is words and information that sells, and so this is a valuable service that you can provide. Start by writing some brochures for your own business and use them as a sales tool – give to local business bosses and meet with them if you can and explain your services. You should find that in time you can build up a modest base of local business clients, who will value the input you provide. Of course you need a great command of english and grammar before going down this road.  publish your business

Making money working from home

April 10, 2009

You should look at the overall position – Companies are already outsourcing many tasks and are going to be looking to outsource many more of their jobs
to workers from home because it is much more cost effective. They don´t have to supply office space, heating, electricity, canteen facilities, health insurance, holiday pay and a pay check every week too. Hence the rise in Virtual Personal Assistants working from home doing all of the jobs that used to be done in the Office environment. The advent of Broadband, Teleconferencing, Videoconferencing and even just chat has made all of these tasks so much easier to control.
